InFiles is built so that your documents never leave your computer. This page explains what that means in practice.

Your documents

The InFiles app reads, indexes and answers questions about your files entirely on your Mac. The AI model runs inside the app. Your documents, your questions and the answers are not sent to us or to anyone else.

Internet access

The app connects to the internet to download its AI model the first time you use it, and when you choose a different model in Settings. That download only receives the model file; it does not send your documents.
